Foam systems use a mixture of water and a low expansion foam concentrate to extinguish fires in power plant. Firefighting foam is used for fire suppression of flammable liquids. Its role is to cool the fire and to coat the fuel, preventing its contact with oxygen, resulting in suppression of the combustion. For a typical industrial foam system, the storage vessels (e.g. Bladder Tank or Atmospheric Tank) contain the foam concentrate and are connected into the distribution system ready for immediate use in the event of a fire.
